World Water Day 22nd March – 2025.

World Water Day is observed on 22nd March to give awareness of the importance of water and the need of sustainability management techniques. Glacier Preservation is the main theme for World Water Day this year. Dr. N. Ramesh, Assistant Professor of Zoology, UG/PG Zoology students, other faculty and students from Nehru Memorial College (Autonomous), Puthanampatti, participated a seminar through online mode. The seminar entitled “Role of ICT in Integrated Water Resource Management from Indian Knowledge Systems Perspectives” a knowledge enrichment programme in connection with World Water Day, 22nd March 2025 – ICT for Social Good, between 2.00pm and 3.30pm. This is a joint event by the Department of Computer Applications of KG College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore and Sri GVG Visalakshi College for Women, Udumalpet in association with the Coimbatore Chapter of Indian Society of Remote Sensing. Gajendran spoke about importance of water and its utility by the public. The only solution is to use the advanced technology to eradicate water problem such as GIS (Geographical Information System), AI (Artificial Intelligence), Remote Sensing with great extent to water conservation awareness among public. Through this tool the ground water level might be analysed. And wasting of water or need of water by industry and households could be detected. Apart from this the appropriate need of water for daily need could be promptly given by using various softwares throughout the world. It seeks to focus attention on the global water crisis.

The GIS gives spatial analysis, mapping and monitoring of water resources and manage water resources effectively. The ground water potential mapping can be used to know ground water potential zones and mark proper sites for artificial recharge techniques, he added. GIS has sensors and analyze the quality of water, it monitor vegetation health, soil moisture as well. Dr. P. Vijayakumar, HOD-Computer Applications, KGCAS, Dr. K.Manimekalai, HOD- Computer Applications, Sri GVGVCW are Convenors of this programme.
