After the address, the much-anticipated training session was led by Dr. K. T. Tamilmani, Vice Principal & Head, Department of English, Nehru Memorial College, Puthanampatti. A distinguished academician and an expert in English language and communication, he engaged the participants with his insightful guidance, practical strategies and an interactive approach, helping them refine their communication skills effectively.

He began his session by giving a brief introduction about himself, sharing his experiences and expertise in the field of English language and communication. To make the session more engaging from the very beginning, he started with an interactive activity, where he asked each student to introduce themselves by stating their name and where they come from. This approach not only helped create a comfortable learning atmosphere but also encouraged students to actively participate right from the start.

He then emphasized the importance of the English language in today’s world. He pointed out that despite the existence of over 7,000 languages worldwide, English has emerged as the most widely spoken and globally accepted language. He elaborated on how English serves as a universal medium of communication, essential for academic success, career growth and interpersonal interactions. The session was conducted in an interactive manner, where all the participants sat in a circle, creating an engaging and inclusive environment. Standing at the center, he took the initiative to communicate directly with the students, making the session more dynamic and participatory. His approach encouraged students to actively engage, share their thoughts and gain confidence in expressing themselves in English.

He highlighted how proficiency in English enhances opportunities in various fields, from business and technology to education and international relations, making it a key skill for personal and professional development.

He then moved on to discussing 16 effective strategies to enhance English-speaking skills. These strategies covered various aspects such as oral communication, written communication, body language and vocabulary building. He explained how individuals could develop their proficiency through consistent practice, active listening and exposure to diverse forms of English communication.

Using real-world examples, he illustrated the common mistakes learners make while speaking and writing in English and provided practical solutions to overcome them. He emphasized what should be done to improve fluency and confidence, offering valuable insights into avoiding errors and refining communication skills.

To make the session highly interactive and engaging, he incorporated videos that demonstrated effective communication techniques, keeping the participants actively involved. Throughout the session, he constantly interacted with students, encouraging them to share their thoughts and participate in discussions. The students responded enthusiastically, making the session lively and immersive.

He also recommended several books to help students further enhance their English proficiency. Toward the end of the session, he took a moment to appreciate the students, especially those who were highly engaged and interactive, recognizing their enthusiasm for learning and improving their communication skills. The entire session was organized by Dr.D.Jayachitra Director - MCA.
