CAREER GUIDANCE AND PLACEMENT CELL

SKILL TRAINING PROGRAMME

The Career Guidance and Placement Cell of Nehru Memorial College (Autonomous), Puthanampatti, in collaboration with Magic Bus India Foundation Limited, Coimbatore, successfully organized a 5-Day Soft Skill Development Programme for II UG and Final Year PG students from 08.12.2025 to 12.12.2025. The programme aimed at enhancing students’ employability skills, communication abilities, and overall career readiness. Nearly 450 students actively participated and benefited from the programme.

The training sessions were effectively handled by experienced trainers from Magic Bus India Foundation Limited, namely Mr. Muthukumar, Ms. Fathima Banu S, Mr. Mathivanan A, Ms. Gayathri, Ms. Roja N, Ms. Srilatha S, Ms. Harini T, Mr. Logesh Kumar Stalin, and Mr. Rajiv. Their learner-centered and interactive methodology ensured active student engagement throughout the programme.

Day 1 focused on self-awareness and an introduction to placement training, enabling students to identify their strengths, weaknesses, and career goals. Day 2 emphasized goal setting, self- introduction skills, developing a growth mindset, overcoming fixed mindset barriers, and building self-confidence. Day 3 covered resume preparation, LinkedIn profile creation, and job search tools and strategies. Day 4 addressed self-management and teamwork skills, along with creative thinking, problem-solving abilities, stage presentation techniques, and effective communication skills, through interactive activities and group discussions. Day 5 concluded with sessions on interview preparation, time management, different types of interviews, and mock interview practices, providing students with practical exposure to recruitment processes.

A Valedictory Function was conducted on 12.12.2025 at the Mookkapillai Auditorium, as detailed in the official invitation. The function was presided over by Er. Pon. Balasubramanian, President, NMC, and Shri. Pon. Ravichandran, Secretary, NMC, and was graced by Dr. A. Venkatesan, Principal, NMC, Dr. K.T. Tamilmani, Vice-Principal, NMC, and Dr. M. Meenakshisundaram, Coordinator, NMC.

The programme commenced with a Welcome Address by Dr. A. Kasthuri, Associate Dean of Placement. In his Presidential Address, Er. Pon. Balasubramanian highlighted the significance of soft skills, discipline, and adaptability in the modern workplace, The Principal, Dr. A. Venkatesan, in his address, emphasized the importance of developing strong communication skills, positive attitude, and professional ethics alongside academic excellence. He encouraged the students to make effective use of such skill-oriented programmes to enhance their employability and to face future career challenges with confidence and determination.

The Vice-Principal, Dr. K.T. Tamilmani, highlighted the role of discipline, self-confidence, and continuous self-improvement in achieving personal and professional success. He motivated the students to actively participate in training programmes like this and to apply the acquired skills in their academic pursuits and future careers.

The Coordinator, Dr. M. Meenakshisundaram, briefed the gathering on the objectives and significance of the Soft Skill Development Programme. He appreciated the efforts of the trainers, organizers, and students, and stressed that such programmes play a vital role in bridging the gap between academic learning and industry expectations.

The valedictory programme was compered by Ms. Deepika and Ms. Punitha, II M.Sc. Chemistry students. With the support of the Placement Cell Assistant, Mrs. Jayasri, and the active involvement of II PG and III UG Chemistry students, the programme was smoothly organized and successfully executed. The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. R. Kabilan, Associate Dean of Placement.
