CAREER GUIDANCE AND PLACEMENT CELL

SKILL TRAINING PROGRAMME

The Career Guidance and Placement Cell of Nehru Memorial College (Autonomous), Puthanampatti, in collaboration with Magic Bus India Foundation Limited, Coimbatore, successfully conducted a 5-Day Soft Skill Development Programme for II UG and Final Year PG students from 15.12.2025,16.12.2025,18.12.2025 & 19.12.2025. The programme was designed to strengthen students’ communication, interpersonal, and professional skills, benefiting approximately 440 students.

The programme was facilitated by a team of experienced trainers from Magic Bus India Foundation Limited, namely Mr. Muthukumar, Ms. Fathima Banu S, Mr. Mathivanan A, Ms. Gayathri, Ms. Roja N, Ms. Srilatha S, Ms. Harini T, Mr. Logesh Kumar Stalin, and Mr. Rajiv. The trainers adopted interactive and activity-based teaching methods, ensuring active participation and experiential learning.

Day 1 of the programme focused on self-awareness and career orientation, helping students identify their interests, strengths, and professional goals. Day 2 emphasized goal setting, self-introduction skills, developing a growth mindset, and building self-confidence. Day 3 focused on teamwork, self-management, creative thinking, problem-solving, stage presentation, and effective communication skills. Day 4 concluded with sessions on interview preparation, time management, different interview formats, and mock interviews, enabling students to gain practical exposure to recruitment processes.

A Valedictory Function was held on 19.12.2025 at the Mookkapillai Auditorium, Dr. A. Boopathy Raja, Associate Dean of Placement welcomed the gathering. Dr. A. Kasthuri, Associate Dean of Placement, presented the report of the Skill Training Programme. Many students shared their feedback about training sessions. Students appreciated the knowledge, effort and commitment of trainers. Students were enriched with improved understanding of concepts and practical applicability of the learning by this programme. This was witnessed by their feedback presentation in the forum. Trainers thanked the Management for very good arrangements and hospitality. They appreciated the involvement and active participants of the students.

The function was presided over by Er. Pon. Balasubramanian, President, NMC, and Shri. Pon. Ravichandran, Secretary, NMC, in the presence of Dr. A. Venkatesan, Principal, NMC, Dr. K.T. Tamilmani, Vice-Principal, NMC, and Dr. M. Meenakshisundaram, Coordinator, NMC.

The President, Er. Pon. Balasubramanian, in his address, emphasized the importance of holistic development and urged students to balance academic knowledge with essential life and soft skills. He highlighted that qualities such as discipline, adaptability, leadership, and ethical conduct are key factors in achieving sustained success in professional life and encouraged students to remain committed to continuous learning.

The Secretary, Shri. Pon. Ravichandran, expressed his appreciation for the efforts taken by the Placement Cell in organizing industry-oriented training programmes. He stressed that such initiatives help students become career-focused, confident, and socially responsible professionals, and motivated the students to make the best use of institutional support for their overall growth and employability.

The Principal, Dr. A. Venkatesan, in his address, highlighted the need for students to be industry-ready and adaptable in the rapidly changing employment landscape. He stressed that soft skills such as effective communication, teamwork, and problem-solving are essential for long-term career growth and encouraged students to continuously upgrade their skills beyond the classroom. The Vice-Principal, Dr. K.T. Tamilmani, spoke on the importance of self- discipline, time management, and confidence building in shaping successful professionals. He advised students to utilize the training sessions as a foundation for personal development and to apply the learned skills in both academic and professional environments. Dr. R. Kabilan Associate Dean, proposed vote of thanks. The entire program was organized by Training and Placement Cell Associate Deans Dr. A. Kasthuri, Dr. R.Kabilan and Dr. A. Boobathy Raja.

The valedictory programme was compered by Ms. Deepika and Ms. Punitha, II M.Sc. Chemistry students. The event was efficiently organized with the support of the Placement Cell Assistant, Mrs. Jayasri, Our heartfelt thanks to the II PG & III UG Chemistry students for their enthusiastic participation and valuable support in making the Skill Training Programme a success.
