Industrial Visit : IIT Madras Open House 2026 "
PG and Research Department of Computer Science, Nehru Memorial College, Puthanampatti , conducted an educational visit for 120 first-year B.Sc. Computer Science students and 4 faculty member, Dr.V.Priya, Head, Department of CS, P.Moogambigai, D.Shamaladevi , Assistant Professors, Department of CS and Dr.Ramesh, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, to IIT Madras Open House on January 3, 2026. The group gained hands-on exposure to AI/ML innovations at IIT Madras.
The primary goal was to bridge classroom learning with real-world computer science applications, focusing on AI, machine learning, and robotics labs relevant to the B.Sc. curriculum. The participants are traveling together from Puthanampatti for a structured day trip.
The group reached IIT Madras campus in Adyar, Chennai, by 10 AM during Day 2 of the three-day event (January 2-4). They explored over 80 exhibition stalls and research labs, with key sessions including: Live demonstrations of machine learning models and Python-based projects in the Computer Science & Engineering department. Interactive Q&A with IIT Researcher and students, sparking interest in advanced topics. On-site group access ensured smooth navigation; 85% of participants rated the experience as "highly inspiring" via quick feedback.
At Last, from 2 PM to 5 PM, the group visited Marina Beach (5 km from IITM) for leisure and cultural exposure. Activities featured like Beach games, kite flying, and sunset viewing to promote student bonding. Strict faculty supervision maintained safety, with full attendance and positive energy throughout. Repeat such visits annually to sustain inspiration. Heartfelt thanks to the college management for providing this invaluable opportunity to our students and faculty.
