The Department of Management Studies, Nehru Memorial College(Autonomous), Puthanampatti, successfully organized “Market Carnival 2K26 – Sell-O-Fest (Pitch it, Price it, Profit)” on 29th and 30th January2026 at the Mookapillai Auditorium. The event was designed toprovidepractical exposure to students in the areas of marketing, entrepreneurship, pricing strategies, customer handling, and profit management.
The program aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledgeand real-world business practices by encouraging students to conceptualize, plan, and execute their own business ideas. The primary objectiveofMarket Carnival 2K26 was to offer hands-on business exposure to studentsby allowing them to set up and manage their own stalls. Throughthisinitiative, students had the opportunity to:
Understand market trends and customer behavior, Learn the basicsofsales, marketing, and finance, enhance entrepreneurial and leadershipskills, Gain experience in event management and teamwork.
The carnival was inaugurated in the presence of the collegemanagement team, including: President – Er. Pon. Balasubramanian, Mrs. President. Mrs. B. Mala Balasubramanian, Secretary – Pon. Ravichandran, Treasurer –Er. B. Surya, Principal – Dr. A. Venkatesan, Vice-Principal Dr. K. T. Tamilmani, Coordinator – Dr. M. Meenakshisundaram, Faculty Members andStudent Organizers.
Mrs. S. Priyadharshini, Head of the Department of Management Studies, formally welcomed the gathering.
This was followed by the Presidential address delivered bythePresident Er. Pon. Balasubramanian, who emphasized the role of suchevents in shaping students into confident entrepreneurs and responsiblebusiness leaders.
The President and Mrs. President honored the guest Mr. K. Marimuthu, Founder & Chairman of Aranya Health Care by adorning a shawl andpresenting a memento.
The Chief Guest of the programme, Mr. K. Marimuthu, deliveredtheinaugural address. He shared his entrepreneurial journey and experiencesinbuilding a successful healthcare organization. He motivated the studentstotake calculated risks, remain persistent, and uphold ethical valuesinbusiness.
A total of 25 stalls were set up inside the Mookapillai Auditorium, each offering a unique shopping experience. The stalls were exclusivelymanaged by BBA and MBA students of Nehru Memorial College.
Shopping Stalls – Included clothing, mobile accessories, handmade crafts, books, cosmetics, and household items.
Food Stalls – Served a variety of delicious snacks, beverages, andtraditional cuisines, providing visitors with a culinary delight.
A large number of students from the Department of Management Studies participated enthusiastically by organizing stalls, marketingtheirproducts, and managing finances.
Students from other departments alsovisited the carnival and actively supported the initiative by purchasingproducts and participating in activities. The event fostered teamwork, leadership, communication skills, anddecision-making abilities among students.
