Free Medical Eye check-up Camp
A Medical Eye Camp was successfully conducted at Nehru Memorial College with the objective of promoting eye health and creating awareness about common eye problems among students, staff, and the general public.
The camp was organized by the Rotaract Club of Nehru Memorial College in collaboration with The Eye Foundation, comprising a team of qualified ophthalmologists and medical staff from a reputed eye care hospital.
The programme commenced at 10:00 a.m. with a brief inaugural session. The welcome address was delivered by the Student Secretary, G. Rohini, who highlighted the importance of regular eye check-ups. The camp was coordinated by Dr. M. Ramesh, and the Public Relations Officer, Mr. Bacil, also served as the Chief Guest.
The Presidential Address was delivered by the College President, Thiru. Er. Pon. Balasubramanian, and the College Secretary, Thiru. Pon. Ravichandran. The function was further graced by felicitations from the Principal, Dr. A. Venkatesan, and the Vice Principal, Dr. K. T. TamilMani. During the camp, students, staff, and members of the public underwent comprehensive eye examinations, including vision testing, eye pressure measurement, and screening for common eye disorders such as refractive errors, dry eyes, and early signs of cataract. Free consultations and expert guidance were provided by the eye specialists. Participants also received valuable advice on eye care, proper use of spectacles, and preventive measures to maintain good vision.
A total of 592 students, 90 staff members, and 25 members of the public benefited from the camp. Individuals requiring further treatment were referred to the hospital for advanced care at concessional rates. Educational pamphlets on eye hygiene and healthy visual habits were distributed to all participants. The camp concluded at 3:30 p.m. with a vote of thanks proposed by the Student Director, J. Nadhasri, expressing gratitude to the doctors, volunteers, and organizing committee. The Medical Eye Camp proved to be highly beneficial and successfully created awareness about the importance of maintaining good eye health among the college community.
