Two-Day Workshop on Innovative Curriculum Designing

Our college conducted a Two-Day Workshop on Innovative Curriculum Designing under the aegis of University Grants Commission for its Staff Members on 24th & 25th December 2017.

Dr.E.Ramganesh, Director of Curriculum Development Cell, Professor & Head of Department of Educational Technology, Bharathidasan University served as the resource person and conducted the workshop session for two days. The objective of the workshop is to design and develop a world class curriculum for implementation in the College from 2018-19. 170 Teachers of the college underwent the training and devised a detailed objectives of the curriculum for 14 different disciplines.

The Salient features of the training inputs provided by Dr.E.Ramganesh include:

i) A curriculum has to be comprehensive and it should lay its emphasis on developing cognitive domain, affective domain and psychomotor domain of the learners.
ii) Curriculum revision is ought to focus on institutional needs, programme needs and Learner's needs.
iii) While framing the objective, more attention has to be paid to programme Educational Objectives, Programme outcomes and Course outcomes.
iv) The vision and mission of the institution have to be reflected in the curriculum.
v) An Innovative curriculum should include the three principles called Create, Connect and Communicate.
vi) There must be enough exposure in developing their enterprising skills and employability traits. Students shouldself-actuli1ze their ability and potentials.
vii) Three must be a paradigm shift from Teacher-focused curriculum to student -focused curriculum in order to make it more viable and more challenging.

Earlier the College Govering Body Chairman Prof.M.Ponnambalam delivered the presidential address. Shri.Pon.Balasubaramanian the President of the College offered felicitations, Dr.A.R.Ponperiasamy, Principal delivered the introducing remarks and objectives of the workshop. During the valediction Dr.K,.T.Tamilmani, Convener of the workshop presented a report on the training and outcomes of the workshop. Dr.S.Kumararaman proposed a vote of thanks at the end.
