Motivating talented youth to take up research as a personal undertaking by rubbing shoulders with global icons of science including Nobel Prize Winners, is the objective of INSPIRE INTERNSHIP. This programme aims at working as a life-long catalysing experience for the 11th graders in science stream. It is a scheme for early attraction of talent for science INSPIRE Internship in which annually about 50,000 students of top 1% performances in class 10 board examination and pursuing science at higher secondary level are being given an exposure with leaders in science in summer/winter camps to expose the joy of innovation.
The camp nourisher the curiosity of childern in science, to help them to think out of box and attract the students at an early age of 16-17 years. Mentors role is to interact with the students through lectures related to scientific success stories and joy of a nation has enormous significance in the competition among emerging knowledge economies. The realization of vision 2020, called for action and a well-designed immovation infrastucture, will help the country to build the required cirtical resource pool.
To achieve the goal of science INSPire programme 12 mentors were invited from differentuniversities and research centers of india from different streams of science i.e maths physics, Biology,Biotechnology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Geology, etc.
This inspire science was inaugurated by Dr. A. Subbia Pandi, DST - Science communication Awardee and regional Joint Director of Collegiate Education, Dhramapuri and the valedictiory address was given by Dr. T. Thenmozhi, lighting the kuthuvilakku and give felicitate address. The principal of the college, Dr. T. Jayaprakasam, delivered the welcome address and Er.Pon. Balasubramania, President, Nehru memorial college, Puthanampatti delivered the presidential address.Dr. M. Meemakshisundaram, Assistant professor and head, department of botany and DST - Inspire programme co-ordinator delivered vote of thanks.
