The Department of English of Nehru Memorial College[Autonomous], Puthanampatti entered into an Memorandum of Understanding with the Foundation for Corporate Social Responsibility at Redington, a Supply Chain Management Company based at Chennai on 29th November, 2016. The MoU would be in effect for three years with the institution. The Primary objective of the Industry-Institution collaboration is to train the graduate students to become employable. In this connection, the Redington Foundation has established and inaugurated an Elite Smart Learning Centre at Nehru Memorial College, Puthanampatti for imparting such training.
The inaugural session was presided over by the Principal Dr . T. Jayaprakasam and Shri. Pon. Balasubramaniam, President of the College delivered presidential address. In his address, he stressed upon the students to develop an urge to go the extra mile to excel others in life. Mr.Divakaran. The Project Co-ordinator of Redington and Dr. K. T. Tamilmani, the Project Co-ordinator of the College offered felicitations.
Mr. M. Muthukumarasamy the Managing Trustee and Company Secretary of Foundation for CSR at Redington delivered the Key-note address and elaborated on the CSR project. He distributed scholarships to the students of the college on the occasion. In his interaction with the students, he insisted on the necessity to hone up their employability traits. He opined that corporate trainers could do a needs analysis and then impart training on issues related to students' lack of exposure in: (i) Communication Skills (ii) Resume Preparation and Interview Skills (iii) Personality Development (iv) Career counseling and (v) Introduction to Corporate Culture.
200 students from final year UG programes with good academic record have been selected for the 80 hours intensive-cum-interactive training. Ms. R. Lakshmi proposed a vote of thanks at the end.
