The Department of English of Nehru Memorial College (Autonomous), Puthanampatti conducted an Interactive Meeting on “How to communicate well in English” for its first year UG students on 4th July, 2018. Mr. Saravanan Sellthurai, an alumnus of the college and now Director of Sakthika Softwares, London, UK was the guest speaker of the occasion. While interacting with the students, he opined that memorization should be dispensed with and learners should have a purpose in whatever they learn. Thinking is the vital skill to shine in any field and thinking in English is essential to gain a command over English. Reading is fundamental to communicate properly he added. Further he asserted that mastering instantaneous responses would help a learner to shed his/her inhibition and eventually he/she will become a better communicator. He suggested that accuracy could be concentrated later. 1100 students participated in the interaction and around 50 students clarified their doubts.
College Committee President Shri Pon.Balasubramanian delivered the presidential address, College Vice-Principal Dr S.Kumararaman, Dr.K.T.Tamilmani, Dean, Academic Affairs and Dr.S.R.Komahan Kavirinadan, HoD of English offered felicitations. Ms.R.Lakshmi proposed vote of thanks at the end.
